Kathie Lee Gifford Talks to Martin Short About His Wife . . . Not Knowing She Died Two Years Ago

KATHIE LEE GIFFORD made a pretty huge mistake on the "Today" show yesterday.  She and HODA KOTB were interviewing MARTIN SHORT. . . and Kathie Lee started asking him about his wife.

--She said, quote, "You and Nancy have one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business.  How many years now for you guys?"

--The thing is, Martin's wife DIED TWO YEARS AGO.  But he didn't correct her.  He just kind of rolled with it.  He said, quote, "We, uh . . . married . . . 36 years."

--Kathie Lee replied, quote, "But you're still, like, in love," and Martin replied, quote, "Madly in love."

--Kathie Lee said, quote, "Why?" . . . and Martin answered, quote, "Cute.  I'm cute."

--Kathie Lee later apologized for her error on-air, saying Martin corrected her after the interview.  But he wasn't upset at all.  In fact, he told her that he had one of the greatest marriages . . . and he STILL DOES.

Jessica Simpson Got a $4 Million Weight Watchers Deal

Not that she needs the money, but JESSICA SIMPSON just scored a $4 million deal to drop her baby fat using Weight Watchers.

--She says, quote, "[I'm] so excited to be part of the Weight Watchers family.

--"The cool thing about the program is that it focuses on healthy habits for the long-term (and I can still indulge in my guilty pleasures every now and then, too).  I have actually gotten a group of friends together who are going to be doing it with me."

--Jessica reportedly put on 65 to 75 pounds during her pregnancy.

--Meanwhile, Jessica debuts her daughter Maxwell in this week's issue of "People" magazine.  She scored $800,000 for the pics.

--She says, quote, "Life has completely changed.  From how I sleep to what I think about, Maxwell has definitely taken over everything!  We stare at her all the time.  We can't get enough!"

Christina Applegate Will Be in "Anchorman: The Legend Continues"

The biggest unanswered question about "Anchorman:  The Legend Continues" has been answered:  CHRISTINA APPLEGATE is on board.

--That's according to DAVID KOECHNER, who plays sportscaster Champ Kind.  He adds, quote, "It's set around the advent of the 24-hour news channel.  They're writing a script right now so no specific details."

Did the New "G.I. Joe" Movie Get Delayed Because the Producers Were Afraid to Kill Off Channing Tatum?

"G.I. Joe:  Retaliation" was recently delayed from June 29th to March 29th of next year.  That's NINE MONTHS.  The official reason given was that they wanted to convert the movie to 3D.

--But sources now say it's really because test audiences were unhappy to see CHANNING TATUM'S character Duke get killed off in the first few minutes.  So they're doing re-shoots to keep him around.

--Interestingly enough, this has happened before.  In the 1987 animated flick "G.I. Joe:  The Movie", they killed off Duke.  But then they changed their minds, and added some dialogue to keep him alive.

Tyler Perry Says Bobbi Kristina Did *Not* Quit His Show "For Better or Worse"

RadarOnline.com is reporting that WHITNEY HOUSTON'S daughter BOBBI KRISTINA walked off the set of TYLER PERRY'S TBS show "For Better or Worse".

--An "insider" says, quote, “She thought she was ready for this, but she wasn't.  She was crying and said she needed a minute to get herself together.  But then she decided she couldn’t handle doing the show right now.  She’s still mourning her mom."

--The story made it seem like Bobbi was quitting the show altogether, and that the producers . . . including Perry . . . are scrambling to figure out what to do because she already filmed a few episodes.

--But Tyler Perry denied all of this in a blog post yesterday titled "Leave This Baby Alone and Stop the Lies Please!!!"  He said that this can't be true because they've already finished taping the whole season.

Did Christina Aguilera Say Britney Would Be a "Disaster" on "X Factor"?

The journalists at "Star" magazine claim CHRISTINA AGUILERA threw a tantrum when she heard that BRITNEY SPEARS got the"X Factor" gig.

--During this alleged "freak out," "Star" says Christina was "throwing things and cursing."  She also ranted about how Britney was, quote, "going to be a disaster," because she'd "act like a zombie."  (???)

 --For what it's worth, an unnamed friend of Christina tells GossipCop.com that the story is, quote, "totally not true . . . she is very happy for Britney."

--Meanwhile, "Us" magazine is also on the bandwagon.  They have a source saying Britney is so "extremely nervous and anxious" that she's headed for "meltdown territory." 

Elton John Is Recovering and Plans to Perform on Monday

ELTON JOHN'S partner DAVID FURNISH says Elton is "doing incredibly well and recovering" from the "serious respiratory infection" that landed him in the hospital last week.  (--He was forced to cancel four shows in Las Vegas last weekend.)

--In fact, he says Elton plans to perform on Monday at QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND'S Diamond Jubilee concert.  PAUL MCCARTNEY and KYLIE MINOGUE will also take the stage.  Elton launches a European tour next Friday.

Are Drake and Rihanna Having Relations?

DRAKE and RIHANNA might be getting all up in each other's fun stuff.  Saturday night, the two were spotted together at Miami's LIV nightclub.

--Then yesterday, she re-Tweeted the following lyric from Drake's song "Headlines". . . "Started not to give a [eff] and stopped fearing the consequence."   No official word yet from Drake or Rihanna.

Jessica Biel Doesn't Think Marriage Will Change Her Life

How will JESSICA BIEL'S life change when she marries JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE?  Not at all.  At least that's what she thinks.

--She says, quote, "I don't think marriage will change anything.  I may be wrong, but I just think it will be a challenge to find balance between my private life, family, and work . . . and I'm ready.

 --"For me, getting married does not mean we should be limited to a predefined plan.  Rather, it is an opening to explore new things in life."

 --Jessica's also not in a rush to have kids.  She says, quote, "I am a person who [lets] things happen naturally.  I was told that after [turning] 30, a woman begins to hear the ticking of her biological clock.  I have not had that feeling."

Police Want to Interview Justin Bieber . . . But He's In Norway

Police still want to talk to JUSTIN BIEBER about his alleged beat-down of a photographer the other day.  But it's not going to happen anytime soon.  Because Justin is in NORWAY.

 --He Tweeted, quote, "ok. going to board. OFF TO EUROPE! PHASE 1 of operation secret concerts! lol. OSLO first stop. See u soon."

--Then he added, quote, "NORWAY!!! here with the team. Loving the people! thank u. good food too."

 --After Oslo, he plans to hit Paris, Milan, Verona, Madrid, London, Cologne, Berlin, Mexico City, New York City and his hometown of Toronto to promote his new album.

 --There's no word if SELENA GOMEZ is tripping around the globe with Justin, but the cops want to talk to her, too.  So if she's still in the States, she'll probably be getting a call.

One Guy in One Direction Has Been Dumped By Text Message, and Another Can't Get a Girl to Ask Him Out

Isn't ONE DIRECTION supposed to be the hottest new teen SENSATION?  Aren't young girls around the world following them, and going crazy??

--Maybe not, because at least two of the guys in the group don't seem to be having luck with the ladies.

 --HARRY STYLES . . . "The Hot One" . . . says he wishes a girl would come up and ask him out.  He tells "Tiger Beat", quote, "I think if you like someone, then you like that person . . . you shouldn't play games.  You should ask them out.

--"Walk up to me and just make conversation.  I like someone who's easy to talk to!"

 --Also, ZAYN MALIK . . . "The One Who Looks Like JOE JONAS" . . . has been dumped by TEXT MESSAGE.  He says, quote, "I've been text dumped before!  I was dating her for a couple of months."

Is Paris Hilton Jealous of Kim Kardashian's Success?

We used to know KIM KARDASHIAN mainly as one of PARIS HILTON'S lesser friends.  Now Kim is EVERYWHERE . . . and Paris is NOWHERE. 

 --Kim has a successful TV empire . . . while Paris can't keep a show on the air.  Kim has a HUGE A-list boyfriend . . . while Paris dates some unknown club DJ.  And the list goes on.  Anybody think there's a chance this DOESN'T bother Paris?

 --Of course it does.  In fact, Paris is LIVID about it.  A source says, quote, "Kim will always be a sore spot for Paris, because she believes that without her Kim wouldn't have the success she has in her life.

--"Paris thinks Kim wasn't a loyal friend to her and only used her to gain fame, and that she is ungrateful for everything Paris claimed to do for her.

 --Another source says Paris is working her tail off to make her upcoming album a success.  Quote, "Paris knows she has a lot riding on this project because her last reality show was canceled, and she needs to do something to re-invent herself.

 --"Paris is hoping to appeal to a broader fan base, and would love to use the album as a platform for a possible project with MTV."

Did Justin Bieber Put a Guy in the Hospital?

JUSTIN BIEBER is being accused of PUTTING A GUY IN THE HOSPITAL. (???)

--Here's the deal:  Justin and SELENA GOMEZ were at a mall near his home in Calabasas, California on Sunday.  As they were heading to their car, a paparazzi scumbag tried to take their picture.

--A scuffle ensued, and the photographer called 911.  By the time police got there, Justin and Selena were gone.  But the guy was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was treated for pain to his upper torso.

--Police are investigating, and they want to talk to Justin and Selena.

--Now here's what witnesses had to say about the incident:  The guy was blocking Justin's car and he asked him to move.  When he wouldn't, Justin got out of his car and that's when things got physical.

--A lawyer who just happened to be on the scene walked up to the photographer after Justin left and advised him that he could make a nice wad of cash if he called an ambulance and filed a police report.

--Before you ask, there's no word exactly how the fight . . . or whatever it was . . . went down.  Even with all these witnesses, there don't seem to be any details.

--From the pictures, it does look like Justin got into a physical altercation with the guy.  Justin even loses his hat . . . and a shoe.  He also has a BAD-ASS look on his face. 

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel Had an Engagement Party

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and JESSICA BIEL made it official Saturday with an engagement party at the home of Jessica's stylist.

--Guests included Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Amy Adams, Timbaland and Justin's N' Sync bandmates Lance Bass and JC Chasez.  Jessica's parents were there, too.

--A source says, quote, "Jessica and Justin were mingling both separately and together throughout the party . . . [it] was a fun celebration and a preview of what's to come with the wedding."

Are Ashton and Demi Getting Back Together?

Are DEMI MOORE and ASHTON KUTCHER getting back together?  The seeds for a reunion were allegedly sown last week during a birthday party for the man who officiated their wedding.

--Witnesses say they greeted each other with a, quote, "60-second embrace."

--A source adds, quote, "They are still desperately in love and could be on for a reconciliation.  The divorce isn't being processed right now."

--Ashton also gave a speech for the guest of honor, during which he said, quote, "I've made all these horrendous mistakes in the last year."

--The source says, quote, "Ashton's voice started to break as he spoke.  He just fell into tears.  He sat down to a round of applause while Demi just looked frozen."

--Supposedly, Ashton and Demi have gotten together at least one or two other times this month to decide, quote, "where they go from here."

--A source says, quote, "They're by no means getting back together but equally no decision has been made to end things for good so everything is to play at this stage."

Lady Gaga Canceled Her Gig in Indonesia Over Security Concerns

LADY GAGA was supposed to perform in Indonesia this coming Sunday, but she canceled it over the weekend over security concerns.

--Local Muslim groups had been protesting the concert . . . and vaguely threatened "chaos" if she went through with it.  They called Lady Gaga a "devil's messenger" who put on "pornographic" shows that would "destroy the country's morals."

--The protesters also threatened to mob the airport when she arrived, and said they obtained tickets to the show, so they could wreak havoc from inside.

--A "spokesman" for one of the groups said, quote, "We have gotten Lady Gaga tickets.  Not to watch but for us to enter.  Our target is to stop the concert . . . we would force them off the stage but not harm the audience."  (!!!)

--The show was sold out, and a crowd of over 52,000 was expected.

--Lady Gaga posted this apology on Twitter:  Quote, "There is nothing Holy about hatred . . . I'm so very sorry to the fans and just as devastated as you if not more . . . I'll try to put together something special for you.  My love for Indonesia has only grown."

--For what it's worth, she offered to "tone down" her act . . . to the point where the concert would just be her alone on the stage . . . but apparently, that wasn't enough to satisfy the protesters.

"Men in Black 3" Beat "The Avengers" at the Memorial Weekend Box Office

It was aliens versus superheroes at the box office this weekend . . . and aliens came out on top.  "Men in Black 3" is the new #1 movie in the country.  It made $70 million in its first four days of release over the long Memorial Day weekend.

--Thanks to "MIB3", "The Avengers" was knocked out of the top spot, where it's been for the past three weeks.  It still hit #2 with another strong $46.9 million haul.

--That raises its North American total to $524 million, and moves it up to number FOUR on the all-time list.  It only needs $10 million before it overtakes the current #3 movie of all time, "The Dark Knight".

Snooki is Having a Boy 

SNOOKI has revealed that she's having a BOY.  She says, quote, "Everyone said I was going to have a boy, and they were right."

--She adds, quote, "I thought it was going to be a girl.  I was hoping it would be, because all girls want girls.  It's still my baby, no matter what.  I'm excited either way!"

--She also claims that the changes she's made since she got pregnant are permanent . . . quote, "I'm not going to party hard anymore, even after the baby is born.  Being a mom changes you."

Could Robert Pattinson Join the Cast of the "Hunger Games" Sequels?

This could be mind blowing for young girls around the world. There's talk on the World Wide Web of Movie Gossip that "Twilight" stud ROBERT PATTINSON could appear in the "Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire".

--The producers are supposedly "chasing" Pattinson for the role of Finnick Odair . . . which would mean he would also appear in the third installment, "Mockingjay".

--Adding more juice to this rumor is the fact that "Catching Fire" will be directed by Francis Lawrence . . . who directed Robert in"Water for Elephants".

--"Catching Fire" starts filming this summer, and it hits theaters in November of 2013.

Conan O'Brien Doesn't Think He'll *Ever* Speak to Jay Leno Again

It's been over two years since JAY LENO stole the "Tonight Show" back from CONAN O'BRIEN . . . but that doesn't mean that they can look back and laugh about it now.

--In an interview with the "Hollywood Reporter", Conan says that he doesn't see himself talking to Jay . . . EVER AGAIN.

--Once the chaos dies down and he's done doing publicity, Phillip will get the KIDNEY SURGERY he's been needing.

Not-So-Shocking News: Jim Parsons from "The Big Bang Theory" Is Gay

In news that will totally shock no one anywhere, "Big Bang Theory" star JIM PARSONS is gay.

--Technically, he didn't come out of the closet.  His sexuality was revealed at the end of a story the "New York Times" did about his work on Broadway.

--The piece said, quote, "Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship."  There's been no word yet from Parsons himself.

--But Jim's sexuality wasn't exactly the biggest secret in Hollywood.  His partner's name is Todd Spiewak, and Jim slyly tossed his name out during his acceptance speech at the 2010 Emmys.

Brad Pitt Says There's No Wedding Date Yet

Don't hold your breath for BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE to get married.  It sounds like a wedding's not exactly on the horizon.

--Brad says, quote, "We have no date at all right now . . . there is no date.  We're still hoping for marriage equality in the States before we [do it]."

--He added that the engagement was, quote, "just something that makes sense to us."

Britney Spears' "X Factor" Demands Include a Ton of Diet Coke and Doritos

The not-always-reliable British tabloids claim BRITNEY SPEARS is demanding a boatload of diet coke and Doritos in her "X Factor" rider.

--Here's a rundown of what she wants:

--12 Snickers bars . . . six cases of Diet Coke containing 24 cans, which must be replenished every week . . . 10 bags of Doritos for her and her team a day . . . 12 vases of magnolia blossoms in her dressing room . . .

--And 10 pieces of chicken and four pints of potato salad every week.  She also requested a "beauty team," which includes a personal manicurist, a facialist and a massage therapist.

Kelly Clarkson's Boyfriend Is Messing With Her Creativity

KELLY CLARKSON has a boyfriend.  His name is Brandon Blackstock, and he's the son of Kelly's manager Narvel Blackstock.  (--Narvel is REBA MCENTIRE'S husband, by the way.)

--They've been dating since late last year, and Kelly is so happy that it's messing with her songwriting mojo.

--She says, quote, "It's killing me.  I'm trying to write a tough song and it's coming out like butterflies and rainbows.  It's ruining my creativity.  I'm writing all this happy [stuff]."

The Situation Says He Went to Rehab for Prescription Drugs, Not Illegal Drugs or Alcohol

THE SITUATION is talking about his stint in rehab earlier this year, and he'd like to make it clear that he was there for a prescription drug problem, and didn't need help for illegal drug or alcohol abuse.

--He says, quote, "My addiction was prescription painkillers.  At first, I thought it gave me energy, helped me.  Being in this business is not easy.  I made a mistake by picking a substance over what I previously chose, which is fitness."

--So does this mean The Situation is OK to drink on the upcoming sixth season?  That's unclear.  But he says he was NEVER drunk on the show because, quote, "I was the guy that was the lady's man.  You can't get girls if you can't speak to them.

Snooki Is *Not* Living with the Rest of the Cast on "Jersey Shore"

SNOOKI is due in late August, so she'll be pretty far along while filming the sixth season of "Jersey Shore" this summer.

--And she's decided to do the responsible thing and NOT live with the rest of the cast this season.  Instead, she'll have her own pad somewhere nearby.

--Supposedly, she's "taking her pregnancy very seriously," and doesn't want to be surrounded by loud, drunk people all the time. 

Ray J Was Hospitalized for "Exhaustion" After the "Billboard Music Awards"

RAY J was hospitalized for "exhaustion" on Monday . . . the morning after he allegedly got intoconfrontation with WHITNEY HOUSTON'S family over seating at the "Billboard Music Awards".

--According to TMZ, someone went to Ray's hotel room Monday morning and found him disoriented and "out of it", to the point where he couldn't even get out of bed.  He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

--Ray's rep is blaming exhaustion and jet lag.  He says Ray had just flown in from a 32-hour business meeting in China, in which he performed and attended meetings.  Then he drove four hours to Vegas for the awards.

And The Winner of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Is…

Green Bay Packers star receiver DONALD DRIVER, 37, cemented his status as a legend on the dance floor as well as the football field last night, as he took home the coveted mirror ball trophy on the season finale of ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

--Driver, who fought hard all season to land a 10 score from tough judge LEN GOODMAN finally earned it Monday night during his country-themed freestyle dance.

--And he and pro partner PETA MURGATROYD repeated the feat Tuesday with his shirt-free cha-cha, earning a perfect 30 from the judges and a total of 89 for the two nights.

--"We've had some great footballers on the show over the years," said Goodman. "My feeling is, you are the best we've had."

--Driver defeated Welsh opera star KATHERINE JENKINS, who was runner-up, and Latin actor and model WILLIAM LEVY to become the third football star (after Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward) to win on DWTS.

--Does it compare to winning last year's Super Bowl? "I think it does," he said. "It's truly something special. I reached the greatest milestone in my career, and that was winning the Super Bowl. I just made my partner reach her greatest milestone, and now she'sDancing With the Stars champion."

"Disco Queen" Donna Summer Has Died

"Disco Queen" DONNA SUMMER passed away yesterday.  She was 63.

--There's no official cause of death, but multiple reports say she was suffering from cancer.  TMZ claims she had LUNG cancer . . . and "sources" told them Donna thought she got it by "inhaling toxic particles after the 9/11 attack in New York City."

--Her family released this statement:  Quote, "While we grieve her passing, we're at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and continued legacy."

--Donna was once a backup singer for THREE DOG NIGHT, before releasing her first big hit, the racy "Love to Love You Baby", in 1975.

--Her other hits included:  "I Feel Love", "MacArthur Park", "She Works Hard for the Money", "Hot Stuff", "Bad Girls",  "No More Tears" with BARBRA STREISAND, and "Last Dance" from the "Thank God It's Friday" soundtrack.

--Donna won five Grammys, six American Music Awards and was the first African American woman to be nominated for an MTV Video Music Award, for "She Works Hard for the Money".

Facebook Could Make Bono the World's Richest Musician

For as long as we can remember, PAUL MCCARTNEY has been holding onto that title of WORLD'S RICHEST MUSICIAN.  But his reign will probably come to an end TODAY, when Facebook becomes a publicly-traded company.

--You see, BONO has a nice little investment in Facebook.  And when it goes public, his net worth is expected to shoot from about $900 million to $1.5 BILLION.  McCartney is "only" worth about $1 billion.

This may not be true, but it's out there in the celebrity gossip universe, so we better address it . . .

--JUSTIN BIEBER supposedly Tweeted a message yesterday that made it sound like he and SELENA GOMEZ had broken up.

--Here's what he ALLEGEDLY said . . . quote, "Thank you for the time I had with you but I have to move on now."

--Of course we can't PROVE this, because the Tweet was supposedly DELETED almost immediately.

--But a source says Justin and Selena haven't seen much of each other lately because she's in Bulgaria filming a movie, and he's here in the States working on his new album.

Jenny McCarthy Will Celebrate Her 40th Birthday . . . By Posing Nude for "Playboy"

JENNY MCCARTHY turns 40 in November . . . and she's marking the occasion by POSING NUDE FOR "PLAYBOY" again.   You won't have to wait until November to see the pictures.  They'll be in the July issue.

--Jenny has apparently gone back and forth on the issue of rejoining the "Playboy" family.  In 2009, she flip-flopped pretty hard.  In several interviews, she seemed dead-set against it.

Showbiz Tragedy! Three of the Wiggles Are Quitting!

THE WIGGLES are going through another lineup change . . . and this one's REALLY big.  Because THREE of them are leaving at the end of the year.  (!!!)

--Jeff Fatt, Murray Cook and Greg Page. . . the Purple, Red and Yellow Wiggles, respectively . . . are all quitting the group.  That leaves Anthony Field, the Blue Wiggle, as the sole original member.

--Jeff, Murray and Greg will continue working with the Wiggles behind the scenes.  They just wanted to step out of the spotlight and lead more normal lives.  Their replacements have already been chosen.

Ashton Kutcher Is Returning to "Punk'd" for a Special Episode

ASHTON KUTCHER is returning to host a special episode of "Punk'd" on June 3rd, before the MTV Movie Awards.  MTV says he's punking "two of the hottest celebrities in Hollywood," but there's no word who they are yet.

(--Of course, he hosted the show from 2003 to 2007, when it ended its first run.  "Punk'd" started up again earlier this year without a regular host.  Ashton is still onboard as an executive producer.)

E! Online Says Jennifer Lopez is Quitting "American Idol"

It could be a long time before we get actual confirmation on this, but E! Online is reporting that JENNIFER LOPEZ will NOT return for a third season of "American Idol".

--A source says she's too busy . . . and the next round of "Idol" auditions will begin while she's on tour overseas.  Plus she wants to free up time to be with her kids.

--Meanwhile, "Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe had this to say yesterday . . . quote, "We want her back.  I want her back . . . [but] It's a business.  She has to weigh everything.  I know she's gotten lots of offers to do movies and other things."

--JENNIFER tops this year's Forbes Celebrity 100 List.  That's the magazine's annual list of the top stars, based on their income, visibility, social media presence and other factors.

--J-Lo earned $52 million over the past year, which is nowhere near the biggest haul for a celebrity.  But she's all over the place . . . especially thanks to "American Idol".

--OPRAH WINFREY finished second, even though her income over the past year was $165 million . . . more than TRIPLE J-Lo's.

Justin Bieber Admits He's Had Beer

The "America's Got Talent" Premiere Was Down in the Ratings, Despite Howard Stern

There was a lot of hype over HOWARD STERN'S debut on "America's Got Talent" Monday night.  And for the most part, he delivered.  But none of that translated into ratings.

--According to the early numbers, the two-hour premiere had 10.5 million viewers.  That's down almost 5 MILLION from last year's premiere, which attracted 15.3 million viewers.  It was also below last year's season average of 11.8 million viewers.

The "Hollywood Reporter" says ROBERT DOWNEY JR. COULD make $50 MILLION from "The Avengers". 

--Why?  Because after the first "Iron Man" was a hit, Downey's reps renegotiated his deal so that he gets a cut of the profits on any movie in which he plays the character.

Aerosmith Is Performing on the "American Idol" Season Finale

BLINK-182 has canceled some shows because drummer TRAVIS BARKER had to undergo an emergency tonsillectomy.

--The shows that were scheduled for last night and tonight in Oklahoma have been rescheduled for September.  Six other shows will NOT be rescheduled.

"The Avengers" Smashed the Record for Best Opening Weekend of All Time

Marvel's "The Avengers" kicked some serious tail at the box office this weekend.  Since its midnight release on Thursday, the movie has made just over $200 MILLION.  That's the best opening weekend for any film EVER.

--The previous record was set last year by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2", which made $168.2 million in its first weekend.  Yeah, "The Avengers" beat that by more than $30 million.

--"Deathly Hallows"still holds the record for best one-day haul, though:  "The Avengers" made $80.5 million on Friday, which trailed the "Deathly Hallows" one-day total by about $10 million.

--"The Avengers" was the only new movie out this weekend, and all the other movies saw their takes cut in half.  Here are this weekend's Top 10 movies anyway . . .

1.)  (NEW)  "The Avengers", $200 million. 

2.)  "Think Like a Man", $8 million.  Up to $73 million in its 3rd week.

3.)  "The Hunger Games", $5.7 million.  Up to $381 million in its 7th week.

Adam Yauch, "MCA" of the Beastie Boys, Has Lost His Battle with Cancer

ADAM YAUCH . . . "MCA" of the BEASTIE BOYS . . . passed away on Friday morning, after a three-year battle with cancer.  He was 47.  In July of 2009, he revealed that he had a tumor in his salivary gland.

--Last year, there were reports that MCA's condition was improving . . . but in a message to fans, he said those reports were premature.

--He said, quote, "While I'm grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer-free are exaggerated.  I'm continuing treatment, staying optimistic, and hoping to be cancer-free in the near future."

--MCA wasn't able to make the Beastie Boys' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction last month . . . and in his absence, the group opted not to perform.

--MCA started the Beastie Boys with his friends Mike Diamond a.k.a. "Mike D" . . . and ADAM HOROWITZ a.k.a. "Ad-Rock" in 1979.  Their most recent album, "Hot Sauce Committee, Part 2", was released last May.

--It's too soon to say how or if the Beastie Boys will continue.  There's been no comment yet from Mike D or Ad-Rock.  (--The Beastie Boys have sold over 40 million albums over the past 30 years.)

Goober Pyle from "The Andy Griffith Show" Is Dead

GEORGE LINDSEY . . . the man who played Goober Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show" . . . died yesterday.  He was 83.  There's no cause of death yet, but he had a stroke in March, and had been in bad shape ever since.

--Goober was Gomer Pyle's cousin, and he worked at the gas station. 

--After "The Andy Griffith Show" ended, George continued the role on the spin-off "Mayberry R.F.D.", and again on the syndicated show "Hee Haw".  (--The cast of "Hee Haw" called him George, but he was basically in character as Goober.)

--Andy Griffith released a statement saying, quote, "[He] was my friend.  I had great respect for his talent and his human spirit. 

--"Our last conversation was a few days ago.  We would talk about our health, how much we missed our friends who passed before us and usually about something funny.

--"I am happy to say that as we found ourselves in our 80s, we were not afraid to say, 'I love you.'  That was the last thing George and I had to say to each other.  'I love you.'"

--Rob is playing Florida prosecutor Jeff Ashton.  He wrote "Imperfect Justice:  Prosecuting Casey Anthony" . . . the book that the movie is based on.  There's no airdate yet.

Michael Jackson's Estate Has Reached a Licensing Deal with Pepsi

MICHAEL JACKSON'S estate has reached a deal with Pepsi that allows Michael's image to be used in a new global marketing plan.

--The specifics will vary from country-to-country, but basically it includes:  Special edition cans with Michael's image, TV ads, and remixed versions of Michael's songs, which will be available as digital downloads.

--Some critics are saying this is in poor taste as Pepsi may have been indirectly responsible for Michael's death.

--In 1984, Michael's hair caught fire while he was taping a Pepsi commercial.  It was pretty serious, his scalp was burned . . . and some people say that injury triggered years of prescription drug abuse that ultimately killed him.

--The estate hasn't commented on that . . . they just released a statement saying, quote, "We're here to market the re-release of the'Bad' album and Pepsi is the most effective place to do it."

Mick Jagger Is Hosting the "Saturday Night Live" Season Finale

This is pretty cool:  MICK JAGGER will host the season finale of "Saturday Night Live" on May 19th.  He'll also be the musical guest.

--Mick has done "SNL" several times in the past.  The ROLLING STONES served as the hosts and musical guest back in 1978.  And that year, Mick performed on another episode with PETER TOSH.

The not-always-reliable "National Enquirer" says that SNOOKI is getting NO LOVE from her fiancé JIONNI LAVALLE because he doesn't like the way she looks pregnant.

--Unfortunately for Snooki, thanks to her hormones she needs it now more than ever.

--A "source" says, quote, "Joinni feels she's blown up like a beach ball.  He thinks it's gotten to the point where they need to cool their jets until after the baby's born."

--Meanwhile, "Snooki's become one big, hot mess.  She goes on crying jags one minute, and the next minute she's all lovey-dovey.  She expects him to perform on demand any time of day or night."

How Things Have Changed: Charlie Sheen Doesn't Want to Be Associated with a Strip Club

Here's an example of how much has changed in CHARLIE SHEEN'S life:  Charlie threatened to sue a New York City strip joint called Cheetahs because they had a VIP room named after him.

--The room had pictures of Charlie on the wall, and for $250, patrons could eat sushi off a stripper's naked body.  But because of Charlie's threat, they removed all references to him. 

Ashton Kutcher Signed On for Another Season of "Two and a Half Men" . . . But He Isn't Getting as Much as People Thought

The "Hollywood Reporter" says ASHTON KUTCHER has signed on for another season of "Two and a Half Men" . . . but not for as much money as people thought he would get.

--There aren't any specific numbers, but he'll make "slightly more" than the $700,000 per episode that he's making this season.  That's roughly $15 million for the whole year.

--The show's other stars, JON CRYER and ANGUS T. JONES, have agreed to return too, with "small raises" over their current salaries.

--According to reports, Jon is making $660,000 an episode this season . . . while Angus is pulling down $250,000 per episode.  That's $14.4 million a year for Jon, and $6 million for Angus, who's just 18 years old.

--We heard that Ashton could get $1 million per episode, for TWO seasons.  But the "Hollywood Reporter" says the cast was reluctant to commit beyond one more year. Especially Angus, who wants to go to college after the upcoming season.

Bobby Brown Says Whitney Houston's Death is Not His Fault

A lot of people blame BOBBY BROWN for WHITNEY HOUSTON'S death.  They say he turned her onto drugs and made a mess of her life.  But in a "Today" show interview that airs tomorrow and Thursday, Bobby says that's NOT TRUE.

--He tells MATT LAUER, quote, "I didn't get high before I met Whitney . . . I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn't the one that got Whitney on drugs at all . . . I'm not the reason she's gone."

(--When he says he didn't get high, he obviously means he didn't take HARD DRUGS, since he admits he'd smoked pot before she came along.)

--Bobby says the accusations make him feel "terrible" . . . but he adds, quote, "I know differently.  I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us . . . they would know how we felt about each other.  They would know how happy we were together."

--As for the chaos that went down on their reality show "Being Bobby Brown", he says it actually gave them a wake-up call . . . quote, "We [were] able to see that our drug use had affected our relationship, had affected the love that we felt for each other."

--Bobby says he's been off drugs for seven years, and didn't know that Whitney was still struggling.  He saw her just a week before her death and he says, quote, "She had this glow about her that was just, you know, incredible.

--"She looked really well.  She just looked like she was in a good place."

"Khloe & Lamar" Is "On Hold"

"Khloe & Lamar" is being put "on hold".  KHLOE KARDASHIAN and husband LAMAR ODOM have pulled the plug on the show.  But they're not necessarily ditching it altogether.

--Khloe's rep says its return will depend on Lamar's basketball schedule.  And that's completely up in the air because he's a man without a team since he parted ways with the Dallas Mavericks last month.

--One source says Lamar plans to spend the entire NBA off-season training, and doesn't want E!'s cameras distracting him . . . and Khloe is totally standing by her man. 

--Of course, there's a competing story that it was all Lamar's idea to end the show, and Khloe is FURIOUS.

--Even if the show doesn't come back anytime soon, we'll still see Khloe and Lamar on TV.  "Us Weekly" says they'll continue to appear on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians". . . and Khloe may do another spin-off with one of her sisters.

Kevin Richardson Is Re-Joining the Backstreet Boys

KEVIN RICHARDSON is officially re-joining the BACKSTREET BOYS.  

--The group made the announcement at a concert in London on Sunday night.  They also announced that they're recording a new album this summer. 

--Yesterday, Kevin Tweeted, quote, "Hello beau-ti-ful people.  Yes, the cat is OFFICIALLY out of the bag.  It's on and cracking!"

--Kevin left the group in 2006 to "pursue other interests."  That wasn't a bad idea.  He was 34 at the time . . . the oldest guy in the group . . . and at that point it's strange to still be in a boy band.

--Now, Kevin is 40 . . . and WAY too old to be doing the boy band thing.  But Backstreet has been doing stuff with NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK, and most of them are in their early 40s, so maybe Kevin feels more comfortable with that.

--Or, he could use a little extra cash, who knows.

Kevin Jonas Will Star in an E! Reality Show with His Wife

The JONAS BROTHERS were the JUSTIN BIEBER of 2008 . . . and even though they're reuniting for another album, they're also apparently entering the reality show phase of their careers. 

--KEVIN JONAS and his wife Danielle are getting their own show on E!.  It's called "Married to Jonas" . . . and it will probably feature appearances from the rest of the Jonas family.  It premieres August 19th.

--Here's a description of the show from E!:  Quote, "After two years of newlywed bliss, Kevin and Dani are finally ready to settle down in their New Jersey home and establish a happy suburban life.

--"However, with the Jonas Brothers heading back to the studio to record new music, finding the right mix of 'normal' and superstardom isn't easy." 

"The Hunger Games" and "Bridesmaids" Have Been Nominated for Eight "MTV Movie Awards"

Nominees for the MTV Movie Awards were announced last night.  "The Hunger Games" and "Bridesmaids" tied for the most nominations, with eight each.

--They're both up for Movie of the Year, along with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2", "The Twilight Saga:  Breaking Dawn - Part 1" and "The Help".

--"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" and "21 Jump Street" were nominated for six "Golden Popcorn" awards each.

--There are FIVE new categories this year:  Best Music, Best On-Screen Transformation, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, Best Cast and Best On-Screen Dirtbag.

--The show airs live on June 3rd . . . on MTV, obviously.  There's no host yet.  Last year, they had JASON SUDEIKIS.

DJ Khaled's Tour Bus Blew Up . . . And He Says "This [Crap] Is Stressful"

DJ KHALED missed a gig on Sunday night . . . but he had a good excuse:  His tour bus was ENGULFED IN FLAMES.  Seriously.

 --Khaled later posted a video blog, where he talked about the fire AS IT WAS HAPPENING.  The fire looks pretty insane, and firefighters are working to get it under control.  Fortunately no one was injured.

--There's no word on what caused the fire.

--Naturally, Khaled was a little rattled.  In the video, he says he lost jewelry, clothing and "a lot of other valuables".  He adds, quote, "Basically what I'm trying to tell you is, this [crap] is stressful."
