"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" Had a Record-Breaking Weekend
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" had the best April opening at the box office EVER. It brought in $96.2 million in its first three days of release, which is $30 million more than the first "Captain America" movie . . . as well as the biggest opening weekend so far this year.
("Fast Five". was the previous April record-holder, with $86 million in 2011.)
And worldwide, it's done even BETTER. It was released a week earlier in foreign markets, and in those 10 days, it's made more than $207 million. To put that in perspective, the ENTIRE foreign run of the first "Captain America" only brought in $194 million. Here are this week's Top 5 movies:
1. (NEW) "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", $96.2 million.
2. "Noah", $17 million. Up to $72.3 million in its 2nd week.
3. "Divergent", $13 million. Up to $114 million in its 3rd week.
4. "God's Not Dead", $7.7 million. Up to $32.5 million in its 3rd week.
5. "The Grand Budapest Hotel", $6.3 million. Up to $33.4 million in its 5th week.
"How I Met Your Mother" Is Getting an Alternate Ending . . . on DVD
One of the co-creators of "How I Met Your Mother" has announced that when the final season is released on DVD, the set will include an alternate ending.
He Tweeted, quote, "If you didn't like the finale, I guess that happens. We tried something, and it didn't connect with you. I hope we're still friends.
"16 days ago today we were in the edit room, trying to decide between two very different endings. We only shot one script, but through edit room magic we had two possible outcomes for the series.
"We chose the ending we chose, and we stand by it. But, we loved the other version too." So, the "new" ending can't be that different . . . visually, at least . . . since it's only an editing fix, with very little new footage, if any.
The "alternate finale" will be on the Season Nine DVDs, and the Complete Series box set, which are coming out sometime this fall.
Could Rihanna Be Pregnant? And is the Father Drake or Chris Brown?
There's probably no reason to believe this story, but since it's out there, we thought you'd better at least be aware of it . . .
The very unreliable website MediaTakeOut.com says RIHANNA is pregnant . . . and the baby could be either DRAKE'S or CHRIS BROWN'S.
Rihanna and Drake seem to be fornicating exclusively now, but supposedly, this "pregnancy" might pre-date their relationship.
So what's the evidence that Rihanna is pregnant? First of all, there's a picture in which it looks like there MIGHT be a slight baby bump.
More importantly, she has reportedly GIVEN UP WEED . . . which you just KNOW she wouldn't do unless she absolutely HAD TO. She also stopped smoking cigarettes and drinking.
Last but not least, in the photo of the alleged baby bump, Rihanna is at a Starbucks with her dad. And "sources" say she got a DECAFFEINATED tea.
Snooki is Pregnant Again
SNOOKI and her fiancé JIONNI LAVALLE are expecting their second child. Snooki announced it Friday, adding, quote, "Now knowing that our test results are good and our baby is healthy, we can finally talk about it."
Snooki and Jionni already have a 19-month-old son named Lorenzo. They're supposed to get married this fall, and Snooki says, quote, "The wedding is still on as scheduled and it will take the apocalypse to change that."
There's no word on her due date . . . but her best friend JWOWW is due to give birth to a baby girl in July.
The Good-Looking Rob Lowe Says There's an "Unbelievable Bias and Prejudice Against Good-Looking People"
It isn't often that someone is brave enough to stand up for the LESS-ugly people of the world . . . and raise awareness for the PLIGHT of good-looking people everywhere. But ROB LOWE is up to the task.
Rob tells the "New York Times Sunday Magazine", quote, "There's this unbelievable bias and prejudice against quote-unquote 'good-looking people,' that they can't be in pain or they can't have rough lives or be deep or interesting . . .
"[That] they can't be any of the things that you long to play as an actor. I'm getting to play those parts now, and I'm loving it. [But] when I was a teen idol, I was so [G-damm] pretty I wouldn't have taken myself seriously."
One of Rob's recent roles was his recurring gig as Chris Traeger on "Parks and Recreation", which reminds Rob of two other prejudices against hot people: That they can't be funny or nerdy.
He says, quote, "There's [also] a historical bias that good-looking people are not funny . . . My deep dark secret is that I was a nerd in school. I liked the theater. I liked to study. I wasn't very good at sports.
"It took being famous to make me cool, which, by the way, I never forgot."
The Director of "The Goonies" Says a Sequel Is in Development
It's been almost 30 years since "The Goonies" came out, and over the years, there's been a lot of talk about a potential sequel being on the way . . . or NOT being on the way.
But over the weekend, Richard Donner . . . the director of the original movie . . . said that there IS a sequel in development.
He added that he hopes "all" the original stars from the original will be back . . . although it's unclear how that will work, since they're all adults now, obviously. There aren't any other details at this point.
