Randy Jackson Says He's Leaving "American Idol" After This Season
RANDY JACKSON has announced that he's leaving "American Idol" after this season. He was the last of the original "Idol" judges.
In a very Randy-like statement, he said, quote, "Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on 'American Idol' I have decided it is time to leave after this season."
He says he wants to focus on his record label and other business opportunities. This isn't a HUGE surprise. Last summer, there was talk that "Idol" wanted to drop Randy as a judge, and move him into some kind of "mentor" role.
But ultimately, they decided to keep him on the panel. Ryan Seacrest made a joke about Randy's departure on "Idol" last night.
For now, there's no indication that there's any animosity . . . but there may have been some between Randy and MARIAH CAREY. Word has it she just dropped Randy as her manager. They'd been together since the early '90s.
Meanwhile, there are reports that "Idol" does not plan on inviting ANY of this season's judges back . . . but there's no official word on that. Supposedly, the show wants to bring in some fresh blood.

Bieber, Gaga, RIHANNA and JAY-Z also rated "unfavorable". SKRILLEX did too, but he was the least-recognizable star on the list. He only got an 11% favorability rating, but only 35% unfavorable. 54% of respondents voted "not sure".
Stars who rated favorably were ADELE, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, TAYLOR SWIFT and BEYONCÉ.
