Former "Sopranos" Star James Gandolfini Has Died
Former "Sopranos" star JAMES GANDOLFINI passed away suddenly yesterday, after reportedly suffering a massive heart attack in Italy. He was 51.
Sadly, when he died, James was in the middle of a father-son trip to Italy with his teenage son Michael, who had just graduated eighth grade. They were really tight, and were "regulars" at L.A. Kings hockey games.
Michael was his son with his first wife Marcy. She immediately flew to Italy after hearing of his death. James is also survived by his second wife Deborah, who he married in 2008. Just last October, they had a baby girl.
There aren't many details on what happened . . . and it's unclear if he'd been suffering from any health problems before the heart attack.
James' assistant said he'd just had "a beautiful day out" with his family . . . and, quote, "When they got back to the hotel, [he] went to use the restroom.
"And something happened in there . . . His sister said he was alive when they took him out in the ambulance, on the way to the hospital."
James didn't really break into acting until 1999, when he scored the role of Tony Soprano. He won three Emmys for it, and was nominated six times. Before that, he made ends meet as a bartender and a club manager.
He did have some notable small roles earlier in the '90s, in movies like "True Romance", "Crimson Tide", "Get Shorty", "The Juror" and "A Civil Action".
After "The Sopranos" ended in 2007, he had some bigger roles in movies like "The Taking of Pelham 123" and "Zero Dark Thirty", and he provided the voice of Carol in "Where the Wild Things Are".
Is Selena Gomez Dating Ed Sheeran?
"Us Weekly" is reporting that SELENA GOMEZ is totally over JUSTIN BIEBER . . . and is now "hooking up" with 22-year-old British singer and WZPL Birthday Bash headliner ED SHEERAN.
According to one source, Selena wants someone more mature than Justin is . . . because, quote, "She got sick of having to take care of Justin like he was her child. This is a nice escape from the drama."
Selena and Ed were apparently set up over Memorial Day weekend by their mutual friend, TAYLOR SWIFT . . . which is ironic, because Ed and Taylor were rumored to be dating earlier this year.
Back in April, he denied the Taylor Swift rumor, and suggested she's out of his league, saying quote, "My mates asked if it was true, [and] it made me feel like a stud!"

Paula Deen Says She's Used the N-word . . . But Only Because She Had a Gun to Her Head?
PAULA DEEN . . . the celebrity chef who uses tons of butter . . . was sued last year by a former employee named Lisa Jackson who's accusing her and her brother of racism, sexual harassment, and assault.
As for the racism, Lisa says she was put in charge of Paula's brother's wedding in 2007 . . . and Paula told her she wanted the servers to be, quote, "A bunch of little [N-words] wearing long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties."
And in a deposition under oath last month, when a lawyer asked Paula if she's ever used the N-word, she said "of course":
Lawyer: "In what context?"
Paula: "Well, it was probably when a black man burst into the bank that I was working at, and PUT A GUN TO MY HEAD."
Lawyer: "And what did you say?"
Paula: "Well, I don't remember, but the gun was dancing all around my temple . . . I didn't FEEL REAL FAVORABLE towards him."
But according to the deposition, she didn't say it DURING the robbery . . . it was afterwards, when she was telling her husband about it.
Paula really WAS held up during a bank robbery in 1986.
When the lawyer asked her if she'd used the N-word since, she said YES . . . but not in a long time, and only because she was, quote, "repeating something that was said to me . . . probably a conversation between blacks . . ."
Clearly, Paula is trying to avoid saying that she's used the N-word as an insult or a joke, which would be more of an indictment than her mentioning it in casual conversation. Not that THAT'S totally cool or anything.
And when it comes to the servers at the wedding, Paula says she wanted them to play the ROLE of "slaves," because her brother's wedding had an old-school, Civil War-era theme. She said it was inspired by a restaurant she'd had been to.
Quote, "The whole entire waiter staff was middle-aged black men, and they had on beautiful white jackets with a black bow tie. I mean, it was really impressive."
Yesterday, Paula's rep has issued this statement: Quote, "[Paula] does not condone or find the use of racial epithets acceptable. She's looking forward to her day in court."
Johnny Depp "Self-Medicated" with Booze, But He Wasn't an Alcoholic
JOHNNY DEPP used to enjoy quite a bit of booze, and he considered it his MEDICINE . . . but he insists he wasn't actually addicted to it.
Johnny tells "Rolling Stone", quote, "I don't have the physical need for the drug alcohol. No, it's more my medication, my self-medication over the years to calm the circus. Once the circus kicks in, the festivities in the brain, it can be ruthless."
Although he sure SOUNDS like an alcoholic, he's been sober for over a year. He says, quote, "I just decided that I pretty much got everything I could out of it . . .
"I investigated wine and spirits thoroughly, and they certainly investigated me as well. We found out that we got along beautifully, but maybe too well."
He says that drinking helped him because he's, quote, "kind of socially-awkward." He adds, quote, "It was always a great crutch. Mingling at parties and stuff like that has always been not a nice experience for me."
Johnny wouldn't go as far as to say that he QUIT alcohol . . . but "Rolling Stone" notes that he was "sipping on non-alcoholic beer," during the interview. And let's be honest, you'd never stomach that crap unless you were serious about sobriety.
