Ann Curry Sobbed While Announcing That She's Leaving "Today"
As expected, ANN CURRY announced that she was leaving the "Today" show yesterday . . . and as expected, she was FORCED OUT.
--Fighting through tears on the show, she said, quote, "This is not easy to say, but today is going to be my last morning as a regular co-host of 'Today'. I will still be a part of the 'Today' show family but I'm going to have a new title and a new role.
--"This is not as I expected, to ever leave this couch after 15 years . . . but [they're] giving me some fancy new titles, which essentially mean that I'm going to get tickets to every big story [NBC News] covers, with a terrific team of my choosing . . .
--"For all of you who saw me as a groundbreaker, I'm sorry I couldn't carry the ball over the finish line, but, man, I DID TRY."
--MATT LAUER said that Ann has "the biggest heart in the business," and he talked about some of the "extraordinary" work she did that he'll "never forget."
--There's no official word on her replacement, but it sounds like it's going to be SAVANNAH GUTHRIE. In the future, you'll see Ann all over NBC . . . that includes "NBC Nightly News", "Dateline", "Rock Center" and even the "Today" show.
Kelly Osbourne Got Drunk on That Plane Because She Was Reading About Multiple Sclerosis
KELLY OSBOURNE says she got drunk and had a breakdown on a plane because she was reading about multiple sclerosis which her brother Jack was just diagnosed with.
--She says, quote, "It was on an empty stomach, and before I got on the plane a gentleman came up to me and asked me how my brother was doing and told me about his brother having MS and directed me towards a website.
--"On the plane I started looking at the website. It described how bad certain cases of MS got, and it made me lose it because I've sat through my mother having breast cancer, my dad almost dying from a bike accident, and now it's my brother who's my best friend.
--"I lost it."
--Kelly . . . who's been to rehab . . . said she didn't get too out of control . . . quote, "It's not like I was [effing] claiming there was a colonial woman on the wing.
--"Like I was so out of it they had to land the plane or something. I got drunk on a plane, big deal."
--She added, quote, "Yes, I still drink and I've always said that. I do have the occasional drink. I'm not using [drugs], I haven't. I won't. I'm not going to do that."
Kendall and Kylie Jenner Are Going to Write a Fantasy Novel
This is YOUR FAULT, America. You could have ignored the Kardashians when you had the chance. But you didn't . . . and now THIS is happening:
--16-year-old KENDALL JENNER and her 14-year-old sister KYLIE are about to become AUTHORS.
--They're going to write a young adult fantasy novel about, quote, "two sisters on a journey filled with terror, mystery, drama and love." It takes place 200 years from now in a dystopian . . . (a.k.a. "Hunger Games" rip-off). . . future.
--Kendall says, quote, "Kylie and I love the creative challenge and are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to share this story."
--Kylie added, quote, "We can't wait to share these characters and the world we created with readers everywhere. We are so excited!"
--There's no word on a title. The book will be out next summer.
Jessica Simpson Says Weight Watchers Isn't Pressuring Her to Lose Weight
Despite what the gossip rags might be reporting, JESSICA SIMPSON says there's no mad rush for her to lose weight.
--She says, quote, "Just so everyone knows . . . Weight Watchers hasn't put ANY pressure on me! I'm trying to be as healthy as I can be for myself and I feel great!"
Mark Wahlberg Goes to Bed by 9:00
FUNKY BUNCH leader MARKY MARK WAHLBERG probably never went to bed by 9:00 P.M. But for 41-year-old MARK WAHLBERG, that's bedtime.
--He says, quote, "You'd be amazed with what you can do once you stop drinking and going out at night . . . Today I was up at 4:30 A.M., played an hour and a half of basketball, then went upstairs.
--"We got the kids out of bed, got them off to school and I was at church by 7:45 A.M. These days I'm in bed by 9:00 P.M. at the latest."
New Movies This Weekend
#1.) "Ted" (R)
Mark Wahlberg plays a guy who wished his teddy bear could talk when he was little . . . and actually GOT his wish. But now they're both grown up, and his foul-mouthed bear is causing trouble with his new girlfriend . . . so 'Ted' has to move out on his own.
--It's the first movie from Seth MacFarlane, the guy behind "Family Guy", who also does the voice of Ted. Mila Kunis is the girlfriend.
#2.) "Magic Mike" (R) Trailer and you'll find the R-RATED trailer here.
Channing Tatum's stripping movie is based on the TRUE story of his brief stint as a male stripper before he was famous. But he doesn't play himself, Alex Pettyfer from "I Am Number Four" does. Channing plays his mentor . . . Magic Mike.
--Matthew McConaughey is the club owner, and he gets up on stage to dance too. The other strippers are Joe Manganiello from "True Blood", Adam Rodriguez from "CSI: Miami", Matt Bomer from "White Collar", and rassler Kevin Nash as Tarzan.
#3.) "Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection" (PG-13)
Eugene Levy enters witness protection with his wife, mother, and two kids after his firm is caught laundering money for the mob, and they all end up at Madea's house. Denise Richards plays his trophy wife, and Doris Roberts is his senile mother.
--The cast also includes Romeo, Marla Gibbs from "The Jeffersons", John Amos from "Good Times" and, of course, Tyler Perry as Madea, Joe and nephew Brian.
