It's Official: Jenny McCarthy Is Joining "The View"
After months of speculation, JENNY MCCARTHY has confirmed that she's joining "The View". Her first day is on September 9th . . . when the show launches its 17th season.
In a blog post, Jenny said, quote, "Yup, I'm doing 'The View'! . . . I might be moving from late night to daytime, but I'm just as fun with a mimosa as I am with a martini. I look forward to spiking your morning coffee on 'The View' for years to come."
Jenny was hosting a late-night show on VH1 . . . but it sounds like the network let her out of her contract so she could take this gig. The ratings for that show weren't great anyway.
BARBARA WALTERS released a statement saying, quote, "Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view."
Jenny has appeared on "The View" 17 times . . . including eight turns as a guest co-host.
Jenny will replace JOY BEHAR, who announced that she'd be leaving the show back in March. Joy's last day will come sometime next month.
ELISABETH HASSELBECK left the show last week. There's still no word who's replacing her . . . but there's been talk it could be BROOKE SHIELDS.
Alcohol and Other "Substances" Were Reportedly Found in Cory Monteith's Hotel Room

Meanwhile, on the night before Cory's body was found, he visited at least two Vancouver clubs . . . the Roxy and the Queen's Republic.
Authorities are trying to speed up toxicology tests so Cory's cause of death can be announced in the next few days.
Chris Brown's Probation Has Been Revoked . . . Will He Go to Prison?
CHRIS BROWN'S probation was revoked yesterday, and the end result COULD be a prison sentence of up to four years.
Brown was placed on five years' probation after he beat up RIHANNA back in 2009. But he was recently charged with hit and run and driving without a valid license, following a traffic incident in May.
And just being CHARGED with a crime is enough for a probation violation.
Chris maintains his innocence. He says he did everything right after the accident. And in fact, sources say the woman whose car he hit doesn't even want him prosecuted.
As for the driving without a license charge, Brown's attorney says he has a valid VIRGINIA license, so he's covered there, too.
Chris is free until his next hearing, which is on August 18th.
Katy Perry Named Her New Perfume After "Killer Queen" . . . Which Freddie Mercury Wrote About a High-Class Call Girl
KATY PERRY has named her new perfume KILLER QUEEN . . . after the QUEEN song of the same name. Apparently, the song had a profound impact on her as a teenager.
She says, quote, "FREDDIE MERCURY painted the lyrics of this woman who I wanted to be. She seemed very powerful, and she captivated a room when she walked in. I named [it] Killer Queen after those lyrics.
"I feel like, after all this time, it was appropriate to use that name in association with something I did. I feel like I'm falling, finally, into that woman Freddie painted."
So, uh, by the way . . . that woman Freddie painted . . . was a HOOKER. Literally.
In 1974, Freddie said, quote, "['Killer Queen'] is about a high-class call girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores as well.
"That's what the song is about, although I'd prefer people to put their own interpretation upon it . . . to read into it what they like."
Kris Jenner Tricked People Into Tuning Into Her Show By Bringing on a North West Imposter Baby
KRIS JENNER had hinted that KIM KARDASHIAN's baby NORTH WEST would make her debut in public on her talk show.
Well, as it turns out, Kris did NOT feature North West and instead, brought out another child posing as a stunt double.
Kris said, "That would be kidnapping. I wouldn't do it to Kim—just give her some time and peace and she'll be out showing her off herself."
Teri Hatcher is Open to Doing a Desperate Housewives Movie
She tells the Sun, "I certainly would be up for it. I never felt like all the stories were done when it wrapped up. I felt like it still had life. Of course, they killed Mike. I don't know what the story would be for Susan and how she could divorce herself from the sadness of how that ended for her. Maybe the movie would be before Mike died."
