The Simon Cowell Baby Situation Might Get Ugly
It sounds like the SIMON COWELL baby situation is about to get ugly . . . and claims that the marriage of ANDREW and LAUREN SILVERMAN was over before she started hooking up with Simon were a bit exaggerated.
According to the "New York Post", Andrew's divorce papers cite ADULTERY, as well as, quote, "cruel and inhuman treatment."
And they name Simon as a "co-respondent" . . . which means he could be called to testify during the proceedings.
Whether there was trouble in the marriage or not, sources are now saying Lauren and Andrew were NOT estranged, and Andrew definitely wasn't expecting this.
Some of Lauren's other friends agree that she and Andrew weren't estranged, and add that Lauren is a GOLD-DIGGER who got pregnant by Simon ON PURPOSE.
Simon was asked about the scandal during a press conference yesterday for the upcoming season of "X Factor".  First he said, quote, "I haven't read the newspapers."  Then he added, quote, "Unfortunately at this moment I have to keep it private."
He later told "People" magazine, quote, "There are a lot of things I will eventually clear up when the time is right, but I really have to be sensitive because there's a lot of people's feelings involved here."  (Not to mention a lot of people's LAWYERS.)
They're Not Letting Amanda Bynes Out of the Hospital Yet
AMANDA BYNES lost her bid for freedom yesterday.  In a hearing that took place in the hospital psych ward, a judge decided that Amanda is NOT ready to be released just yet.
Mostly because she isn't totally stable yet, and her condition hasn't been formally diagnosed.
Amanda was hospitalized a week and a half ago, after starting a fire in a woman's driveway.  She was originally placed on a 72-hour involuntary hold, but doctors got a judge to extend her stay for another two weeks.
The news isn't necessarily all bad.  Sources say the meds Amanda is on ARE helping.  For instance, she's no longer talking to herself or insulting people.
Lindsay Lohan Taped Her Episode of Chelsea Lately
LINDSAY LOHAN got right back to work yesterday, taping her guest-hosting stint on "Chelsea Lately".  (It airs this coming Monday night.)  Sources say she arrived on time and was great from rehearsals through the entire taping.
She even nailed her monologue in one take, and joked about herself by saying she'd just been on a "90-day court-ordered vacation."
New Movies This Weekend
1.  "The Smurfs 2"  (PG)  (Opened Wednesday)
In this one, the evil wizard Gargamel creates his own smurf-like creatures, called The Naughties, and orders them to kidnap Smurfette.  CHRISTINA RICCI and comedian J.B. SMOOVE do the voices of the Naughties.
KATY PERRY is back as the voice of Smurfette, and HANK AZARIA plays Gargamel.
And even though JONATHAN WINTERS died in April, he still did the voice of Papa Smurf before he passed away.  He leads Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to our world to ask their human friends . . . Neil Patrick Harris and "Glee's" Jayma Mays . . . for help.
George Lopez is Grouchy, "Star Trek's" Anton Yelchin is Clumsy, and the "Daily Show's" John Oliver is Vanity Smurf.  Some of the other voices you might recognize in Smurf Village include Shaq as Smooth Smurf, and Mario Lopez as Social Smurf.
2.  "2 Guns"  (R)
Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are undercover agents from different agencies who've spent months hiding their identities from each other, since neither one knows the other guy is a cop.  Denzel's DEA and Marky Mark's an NCIS agent.
James Marsden and Paula Patton play their handlers, and Edward James Olmos is the leader of the Mexican drug cartel they piss off when they steal his money.
