Throwback Thursday: Three MMMBop Covers to Celebrate The Band's 25th Anniversary
By: Joe Hyer
The boys from Hanson announced this week that they are hitting the road later this year to celebrate 25 years of making music.
That's right, Hanson has been around for a quarter of a century. Of course, we have to admit that we still love "MMMBop" to this day. In fact, we love that there are thousands upon thousands of covers of the song available on Youtube. The Hanson brothers say that they’ve never heard a version of the song that they’ve really liked.
"You know why? People can’t sing the chorus right. Most of the time they syncopate it wrong,” Isaac Hanson told Vulture in 2016.
He did, by the way, say that Bruno Mars could possibly be the right guy to cover the song.
"If Bruno Mars were interested, he’d probably find a way to kill it," Isaac tells Vulture.
Bruno has not covered it yet, but tons of talented artists have certainly tried. We think they sound great, but what do we know? We’ve rounded up three of our favorite MMM Bop covers to celebrate this “classic” song on this Throwback Thursday.
Post Modern Jukebox
Postmodern Jukebox shared a doo-wop cover of the song last year. There is something very upbeat about hearing the lyrics to "MMMBop" sung over doo-wop, right?
Same song. Different boy band. The British boy band, The Vamps, covered the classic 1996 song a few years ago. After hearing this, however, we disagree with Hanson. This is an awesome pop cover of the song.
The Band J4
This group sounds like they really get it. There is something unique about a group consisting of two guys and two girls covering the hit song. They have such an awesome sound, right?
Hanson will hit the road later this year to celebrate 25 years of making music.
