LIPODISSOLVE
This was the first time that I received a request to test a service but refused to do so! My gut was telling me that Lipodissolve was dangerous, and I'm learning now that my gut was right. A friend of mine, who shall remain nameless, is actually the person who injects patients during a lipodissolve session. She works for a plastic surgeon. She has personally tried it, and this is what she had to say about it. "DON'T DO IT! Lipodissolve is painful, and will distort your stomach. After one treatment it takes about 6 weeks until you feel better, and look better, and then you have to go back for another treatment. Not only that, but Lipodissolve WON'T make your fat go away and leave you with a rockin' body but it WILL make you look lumpy and uneven and cost you a fortune." The bottom line is that Lipodissolve is bad news and under investigation by the FDA. There is no standard ingredient, and many of the individual ingredients are not FDA-approved on their own. DON'T TRY IT!
DIRT DEVIL BROOM VAC
I bought a Broom Vac a few months ago and was really hoping it would work. I have carpeting upstairs, but wood floors and throw rugs downstairs, so I've been lugging a big heavy vacuum up and down the stairs for months since moving. Well, I'm still going to be getting a workout when cleaning my house. The Dirt Devil Broom Vac is a piece of crap! It costs $50, and it isn't worth $5. The Broom Vac barely picks up cat hair off of the tile in the kitchen, and it is absolutely worthless on any type of rug. If you're trying to get up crumbs or cat litter with it, forget about it! The only thing that I've found that the Dirt Devil Broom Vac is good for is cleaning cat hair off of my chaise lounge which is a faux suede. Otherwise, DON'T BUY ONE!

Smart Mouth. The makers state that you will be protected from bad breath, 24 hours a day, with regular, twice daily use. I will have to say that's a load of B.S. It may help someone with chronic halitosis but, if I still had a nasty taste in my mouth in the morning, after using the product, then it doesn't really do what it's supposed to. Obviously, if I can taste the caesar salad from the night before, someone else can smell it.

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS!
I went to Target Metabolism, in Avon, and found out what my metabolic rate and body fat are! Target Metabolism is a company owned by Beth Thompson, who has a BS in exercise science. With her FDA approved equipment, Beth helps clients find their exact metabolism, and body fat content, and has a nutritionist on staff to come up with an eating plan to meet the clients specific goals. Not only did Oprah talk about this on her show, but the service is ONLY $130, and may be covered by insurance! Regardless of your level of fitness, or specific goals, you DEFINITELY need to call Target Metabolism! I highly recommend the service. 317-271-5030 or www.targetmetabolism.com
I hate you for making me try this one!
Monistat Day or Night. First of all, I used it even though I didn't have a problem so I can't attest to how effect the product actually is. I was just testing it to see if it would actually do as it claims, which is STAY IN PLACE. Well, I can tell you that those bastards at Monistat are lying! That stuff is disgusting. It was just as messy as anything else we'd use, and there is no way to safely use it during the day, and go to work. Not unless you want to wear an adult diaper under your clothes!
CareFree Hair Removal This product is supposed to keep your legs hair free for 7 days, and it DOESN'T WORK! First of all, it's very messy and time consuming to use. Second, it HURTS! You're supposed to apply it and leave it on for 5 minutes, but I only lasted 2 minutes because it started burning. Then, the burning got really bad because you don't shower it off, you need to spend time scraping it off! YUCK! It hurts, it leaves stubble, and you need to shave a day later anyway. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
The book, "The Chameleon Chronicles" by local author Andrew S. Leiter.
I read the book, or at least I read as much of it as I could handle. To be fair, though, I saw a lot of potential in Andrew's work. I just think he hired the wrong editor! Reason being, nothing is explained, or set up, it just happens. You see, The Chameleon Chronicles is basically an American version of Harry Potter. A group of kids, in the same school, and they all have magical powers. The difference is that they're the only kids in the school with the powers, and they're trying to keep them a secret. The main problem with the book is that it's hard to follow because you have no clue why the kids have powers to begin with, and where the heck the book was going. I think kids might like it, but avid readers will see too many faults to really be able to enjoy it.
VITAMIN B12 SHOT: A listener asked me to test a B12 shot, because she was hoping the shots would help with her energy, and possibly aide in weight loss. I took a shot, and talked to three different doctors about the benefits of the B12 shot. The bottom line is that a B12 shot will only help you if you have a vitamin B deficiency. That being said, the B12 shot did nothing for me. I felt no difference in energy, after getting the shot, and didn't see the need to try it again next month. As for aiding in weight loss, old school doctors used to give B12 shots weekly to help with weight loss. I knew a gal who'd gotten the shots, lost the weight, and gained it all back the week she stopped taking the shots. I think that they just gave her some energy, which enabled her to get a bit of exercise when she typically wouldn't have wanted to. I really don't think anything other than regular workouts, and healthy eating, can help a person lose weight and keep it off.
LASER CONCEPTS of Indiana: (This is going to be updated regularly for the next six weeks. Check back soon for more, but in the meantime....)
WEEK 1! Listener Chad had his first visit to Laser Concepts and LOVED it! He claims that the laser treatment is a better high than anything he's done in his past, and it's all natural! Laser Concepts uses a cold laser to stimulate pressure points, which will then create endorphins to replace the high smokers get from nicotine.
WEEK 4! Chad emailed to tell me that he hasn't had a cigarette in three weeks, and that is the longest he's ever gone without smoking! So far so good!
The service doesn't cost very much, you pay once, and then can go as needed if the urge to smoke is still overwhelming.

ANTI-CELLULITE CREAMS
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Ever hear that line before? When it comes to fad diets, and diet pills, I absolutely agree with the statement. However, I have found something that helps reduce the appearance of cellulite!
I tried three products that claim to be able to firm and tone the skin, and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Only ONE of them worked. I'll start with the WORST and end with the BEST product.
Arbonne- Figure 8 Vanish: This stuff sucks! First of all, it's really expensive and a pain to use. The first step is to use the pre-shower cellulite cream, and then wait a minute before showering it off. You have to apply it to dry skin, and it makes a horrible mess on the bathroom floor. Not to mention, who wants to stand there - stark naked - and wait a minute while rubbing product on their skin? Not me. (The Figure 8 doesn't have a nice smell either.) THEN, after you shower, apply part two of the system which is a Contouring Cellulite Cream. Once again, not a nice smell and it just doesn't work. I used the product for three months, and my skin appeared to be even worse than when I'd started. I did NOT gain weight during the test, either. Don't buy this product for cellulite control! I actually ended up using it to exfoliate my feet. THIS PRODUCT IS A BIG FAT NOOOOOO!!!
Jergen's Skin Firming Daily Toning Moisturizer: A nice lotion, but does nothing for toning the skin. I did like the scent of the Jergen's, and it was a help with my dry skin, but after 2 months of use I didn't notice ANY difference in the tone of my skin. I used this specifically on my arms, so I could really spot test the product. After two months, there was NO change to the tone of my skin. I just continued to use the product as a moisturizer but there are other Jergen's lotions that smell great and help dry skin, and they're much cheaper than the Skin Firming type.
Clarin's Total Body Lift: I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! I've used Clarin's for a couple of years now and I actually stopped using it while testing the above mentioned products. I can tell you that the Clarin's DOES make a difference in the appearance of cellulite. WHEN I'm using Clarin's my inner thighs are visibly firmer and more toned. When I stopped using the Clarin's, in order to test the Arbonne Figure 8, my thighs became a bit rippled in appearance. This drastic change in appearance of skin toned happened in just a matter of weeks! I'm back on the Clarin's and, within a few weeks, my thighs are much more toned and a lot less embarrassing to look at! I LOVE this product, and I DO recommend it!
Age Intervention Eyelash: IT WORKS!!!!!!
This product was requested by the lovely Pat Carlini and I should thank her for the suggestion. I have used the product, for a few weeks, and I've noticed a major difference in the length and thickness of my eyelashes. The results would have been even better had I remembered to use it every night, and not hit and miss for three weeks. I would recommend this product! Talk to Linda Baker at Interface about setting up an appointment for a free consultation, and to buy the product. Bakercomer@yahoo.com, and 815-0055. Also, I go to Linda for general skin care and LOVE her! My skin looks great! She'd recently talked me into trying BOTOX too and now I am seriously hooked on the stuff. It's amazing!
OXYGEN FACIALS
Listener Jennifer wrote in requesting that I test a product that gives oxygen facials. You may have heard about the treatments, at high end salons, but Jen told me that she saw an in-home unit at Target for $60. Before I went shopping, I emailed my skin care lady Linda to get her advice on this item. This is what she had to say:
"With regards to the oxygen facial treatments - I believe they are overhyped just like microdermabrasion. I have personally looked at, and tried, several different machines, but frankly was not impressed. The over the counter products are certainly less likely to be effective. It's very difficult to "force" oxygen into the skin without some trauma to the epidermis. The oxygen molecule is much larger, and therefore difficult to penetrate the skin. I think if oxygen is used during a facial it may "temporarily" plump the skin and fine lines, but in two days you're back to where you started. It's difficult to stimulate collagen with oxygen and is probably not possible. If someone is interested in getting more oxygen into their skin, I would say they need to provide it from the inside out, through aerobic exercise. Use of a great product, retin-a, always wearing a good sunscreen, along with exercise, water and a healthy diet, are the best tools for younger, healthier skin."
