Britney Jean Carlson (born 1987), known as BC Jean, is an American singer-songwriter and pop/rock singer, best known for writing and recording the first version of the Beyoncé hit single, "If I Were a Boy", which premiered on music industry website "Crazed Hits" in May 2008, several months prior to Beyoncé getting a hold of the song and recording it. Her grandfather performed with Perry Como and both grandparents with Fred Waring. Jean is currently signed to J Records and is working on an album with Dallas Austin, The Matrix, and Toby Gad. We're all really delighted that BC has chosen us as her musical home." Jean released her debut single "Just a Guy" on September 14, 2010. Kevin Hammond was one of those quiet, preternaturally talented, sensitive kids who walked around with his head in the clouds. And even though he’s now twenty-five, not all that much has changed. The singer-songwriter still spends a lot of time in his own head, dreaming about a world in which music is never cynical, always emotional and always inspiring.
The singer songwriter was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin and was the third of seven kids. Because his understanding of song structure was so highly developed at such an early age, he treated other musicians’ work as an instruction manual on how to make songs in his head. Tears For Fears, U2 and later Gavin DeGraw, Third Eye Blind and Coldplay were all influences.
Creating more than just a show, Andrew embraces and revels in the experience. He feeds off the audience and returns every ounce of energy back in melody form. From his fun loving 2009 Top 10 single ‘I Wanna Be Your Christmas’ to the smash hit ‘Loving You Tonight’ which was catapulted into the Top 10 on Radio and the Top 100 in iTunes, courtesy of CHUM Radio’s Emerging Artist Initiative, all the way to his soulful ballads like 'Amazing', which he performed in Whistler BC at the 2010 Closing Ceremonies of the Paralympic Winter Games, he somehow knows just how to conduct a show that has you laughing, dancing and most importantly…remembering.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are like a modern-day version of Tina Turner stroking the microphone in a spangled mini-dress while fronting the Rolling Stones circa Sticky Fingers. The proof is there for all to hear on the band’s third album for Hollywood Records, hitting this spring, and marks an artistic breakthrough for a vital young band caught in the act of fulfilling its immense promise. Little wonder that Grace and her cohorts have chosen to title it, directly and emphatically, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
It’s that familiar warmth that washes over you in the first 20 seconds of your favorite song. That little reminder in your ears letting you know today is going to be a good day. Once the hook of Andy Grammer’s “Keep Your Head Up” hits, you’re already halfway there. It’s that kind of infectious groove that sets the tone for his groundbreaking debut EP, and the kind of talent that turns a regular tune into an honest feeling that stays with you all day.
