Dracula Unearthed

Just in time for Halloween, archaeologists claim that they‘ve discovered a dungeon that held Vlad the Impaler.

Vlad, in case you missed that day in whatever class teaches these things, was the real-life inspiration for Dracula.

The dungeon was found in Tokat Castle in Turkey, where Vlad was held by the Turks as a political prisoner in the 15th century.

One of the archaeologists on the dig said that the castle is “completely surrounded by secret tunnels. It is very mysterious. It is hard to estimate in which room Dracula was kept, but he was around here.”

Sounds less like an historical find than a prelude to a haunted castle tour, doesn’t it?

KJ's Hollywood Dirt for 10/1/2014

Ben Affleck Shows Wiener in "Gone Girl"

"Gone Girl" opens Friday, and if you weren't already planning to see it, maybe I can sweeten the pot: This film will give you your first glimpse of BEN AFFLECK'S PENIS.

He tells MTV News, quote, "It's ironic because [director David Fincher] said to me from the beginning, this is a warts and all movie. It can have no vanity. You have to see the naked underbelly of this character."

He adds, quote, "There is some very brief nudity . . . The penis is in there! It's IMAX penis! You've gotta pay fifteen bucks to see it in 3D . . . it looks better in 3D. You should know it was a very cold set."

Tracy Morgan Responds to Walmart's Ignorant Claims

TRACY MORGAN is fighting back against Walmart for claiming he's responsible for his own injuries because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt when one of their trucks plowed into him.

He says, quote, "After I heard what Walmart said in court I felt I had to speak out. I can't believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong.

"I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I'm fighting hard every day to get back." One of Tracy's friends was killed in the accident. He and several others were injured. They're suing Walmart.

Michael Phelps Is Apologizing for Drinking and Driving . . . Again

MICHAEL PHELPS is a world-class swimmer . . . and unfortunately, he's also getting pretty good at apologizing for DUI arrests.

According to the "Baltimore Sun", Michael was pulled over late Monday night, when a cop clocked him doing 84 in a 45 mile-per-hour zone. That's nearly twice the speed limit . . . and according to reports, his blood alcohol content was also at nearly twice the legal limit.

Yesterday, Michael apologized, Tweeting, quote, "[I was] charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines. I understand the severity of my actions and take full responsibility.

"I know these words may not mean much right now but I am deeply sorry to everyone I have let down."

One of the reasons his words may not mean much is that this is his second DUI arrest. He was also busted back in 2004, when he was 19. He also apologized that time, and said he "took responsibility" for his actions.

Michael's Olympic teammate RYAN LOCHTE took this opportunity to take a few jabs at him. He said, quote, "I'm not concerned . . . he just makes dumb decisions. He has so much money to get a driver . . .

"I even have a driver. Just stinks for the sport of swimming. But he will become smarter from this. Luckily he did not hurt himself or someone else."

The "Rush Hour" Movies Are Being Turned Into a TV Show

The "Rush Hour" movies are being turned into a TV show. It'll be an hour-long action comedy with a plot similar to the movies: A by-the-book foreign police officer being forced to work with a cocky American cop.

There's no indication JACKIE CHAN and CHRIS TUCKER will be involved, but Brett Ratner is onboard as an executive producer . . . he directed the movies.

For what it's worth, just last month Jackie Chan said he'd be interested in doing a fourth "Rush Hour" movie . . . even though there wasn't anything in the works. As for the show, it's still early in development . . . and no network is attached yet.

The Tom Hanks Movie "Big" Is Being Turned Into a TV Show

If the 1988 TOM HANKS movie "Big" totally left you YEARNING for more, here's good news: Fox is turning it into a TV show.

There aren't any other details yet . . . but Fox seems pretty high on the idea, so there's a good chance it'll end up vying for a spot on their schedule next year. And there's no talk that Tom Hanks would be involved.

Aretha's Back

Aretha Franklin appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday night, mashing up a cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" with a rendition of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

The cover portion was a little awkward - maybe Adele's song wasn't quite right for her - but she really heated up on the second and closing part.

She's 72 years old, and she is still the Queen of Soul.

And that's why she earned a standing ovation. Check it out - see what you think.

Can You Fix It With a Tweet?

Olympic champion Michael Phelps is back in the news - this time after being arrested yesterday for driving under the influence in Baltimore.

This is his second arrest for the same offense - the first one coming ten years ago.

As so many do these days, he jumped on Twitter almost immediately to explain and apologize.
Who needs a lawyer or a publicist when you can Tweet?

There's No Praying in Football?

During Monday night's football game between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs (which the Chiefs won in a drubbing, 41-14), Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah intercepted Tom Brady and took the ball to the end zone for a touchdown.

After scoring, Abdullan prostrated himself on the turf in a thankful prayer. The referee threw a flag and penalized Kansas City for unsportsmanlike conduct.
That led to a social media firestorm.

Early Tuesday morning, the NFL officially reversed the call.

  Good call.

Because if they were going to penalize Abdullah, they would have had to penalize every player on the Patriots bench too, praying for their offense to wake up.

Taken Away

Liam Neeson's going strong with his Taken gold mine. The trailer for Taken 3 was released this week - it hits theaters in January.

Surprise. The bad guys with eastern European accents are back, and doing what they can to take out Neeson and his family.

They manage to kill his ex-wife - no spoiler alert, it's the big plot point - and frame her for the murder.

Naturally, he eludes the police and goes on a hunt - "I'm going to finish this!"

Again. Until it's time for Taken 4.

Pay It Forward & Then Some

A couple in Iowa went out to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary and got some pretty lousy service at a local restaurant.

Twenty minutes to get water, 40 minutes for an appetizer, 60 minutes to get their entree.

But they realized it wasn't the waiter's fault - he was doing everything he could, handling 12 tables in a short-staffed situation.

And the couple - Makenzie and Steven Schultz - knew what it was like. They'd met working as waiters, and they felt for the overworked server.

So, instead of getting mad, they tipped him $100 on a $67 tab, and wrote a note: "We've been in your shoes. Paying it forward."

Makenzie posted the image to her Facebook account, and it went viral. Over 1.5 million likes and close to 200,000 shares at last count.

Pretty cool story... Of course, it didn't do much for the restaurant, but I'll bet the server doesn't care.

Brain Freeze, Maybe?

A Peruvian author who lives in New Jersey is suing the folks at Disney for $250 million dollars, saying that stories, characters and plots in Frozen were stolen from her autobiographical works.

Read that again: a movie featuring a woman with the power to freeze everything, plus a talking reindeer and snowman, stole ideas from a New Jersey's autobiography.

Yup, makes perfect sense.

The woman refuses to back down, and is demanding a jury trial.

Disney, for its part, told CNN that the woman needs to "let it go."

Nicely played, Disney. I see what you did there.
