I want to say this time last year the most popular Netflix show worldwide was Tiger King so congratulations, everyone, we’ve come a long way.
HighSpeedInternet.com figured out the most popular Netflix shows in every country based on unofficial data from Google and Flix Patrol (a third-party Netflix search engine). They only included titles released over the past 10 years, and they didn’t bother with countries with incomplete data.
Now that we have the “rules” out of the way. . .the top show in the U.S. and Canada is Schitt’s Creek.
In Mexico, people are searching for Stranger Things more than any other title. That show is also #1 in 14 other countries, including Turkey, Peru, Greece, Hungary, Hong Kong, Guatemala, and Finland.
Peaky Blinders was the most popular show in 24 countries, including France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Iceland, New Zealand, Sweden, and Egypt. It’s a British drama, but it didn’t win its home country. Netflix users in the U.K. are more likely to search for the women’s wrestling show GLOW.
The GLOW thing is interesting to me because I just could not get into that the show, but the husband was all about it. . .and he’s a quarter British.
