Around 4,000 music lovers dressed up to spend a Tuesday night at the O2 Arena in London for the 41st annual BRIT Awards! Over half of attendees were healthcare workers who worked tirelessly last year battling Covid. If you didn’t catch the YouTube broadcast, don’t worry! We’ve rounded up our top 6 iconic moments from the lavish evening.

Dua Lipa’s Epic Performance + Wins

Not only did Dua Lipa win for Female Solo Artist AND Mastercard Album of the Year, she also levitated the stage with an epic performance medley. From dance breaks to mixing prints, Lipa took us on a trip, without having to even leave the arena.

Olivia Rodrigo makes her BRITs debut!

The song that took over the world (and my life) for the better half of the year was a massive hit at The BRITs. Olvia Rodrigo took the stage in a beautiful Christian Dior red sequin set and sheer cover-up that literally took my breath away.

To top it off, she finally met one of her favorite musicians, Taylor Swift! Now if I could just figure out how to time travel and make it into this photo…

Taylor Swift Awarded As Global Icon

Speaking of Taylor Swift, my girl was awarded BRITs Global Icon last night. Presented by Maisie Williams, Swift was congratulated for her hard work in the industry and the amazing music she created last year.

“I’m really really proud to be a part of this musical community, especially in a year when we all needed music so much. But what we needed, even more, was the help and support we got from the NHS and the key workers who are here tonight. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us!” said Swift.

She then went on to give some advice to new/up-in-coming musicians in the room telling them “we live in a world where anyone has the right to say anything that they want about you at any time, but just please remember that you have the right to prove them wrong!”

Harry won a BRIT!

“Watermelon Sugar” was named Best British Single! When Harry Styles took the stage, I almost passed out from his epic, vintage carpet-looking Gucci suit! I mean, come on! Anyway, when Styles grabbed the mic he thanked his fans and everything that encompasses British music.

“I just continue to be baffled by moments like this and they make me more and more incredibly grateful to be able to get to do this job every day. I’m really happy to be here and proud to be celebrating British music tonight.”

Jack Whitehall & HAIM’s Interview

If you recall last year’s BRIT awards and a certain meme with Este Haim mouthing “Call Me” to the camera, well that meme was revised last night when Jack Whitehall interviewed HAIM and Este’s reaction was priceless!

Michelle Obama Presents Award To The Weeknd

The Weeknd won International Male Solo Artist!! Though he couldn’t be at the BRIT Awards, he sent in a very moody and wet acceptance video that’s totally on brand for him. Michelle Obama presented the award and touched on how The Weeknd not only made headway in the music scene this year but helped in shining a light on causes making a difference.
