Billie EilishBTSDoja CatDrakeLil Nas XOlivia Rodrigo, and Giveon all tied for third with five nominations.

The Video of the Year nominees are:  “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion“Popstar” (starring Justin Bieber) by DJ Khaled and Drake“Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat and SZA“Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran“Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” by Lil Nas X, and “Save Your Tears” by The Weeknd.

Interestingly, Dua Lipa was nominated for Song of the Year for “Levitating”, but her collaborator DaBaby isn’t included.  Does it have anything to do with the controversy over his homophobic comments?

Voting is now open at VMA.MTV.com.  The ceremony will happen on Sunday, September 12th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  This year’s awards will introduce a newly redesigned Moonperson statue.  It will also honor the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks for the 20th anniversary.
