The Grammys plot thickens.
We all know by now The Weeknd says he’s boycotting the Grammys forever because he claims they’re corrupt and blocked him from being nominated when he refused to perform. Well, BTS was finally nominated in one category, and they might not have won because they weren’t able to show up at the ceremony.
In a translated interview, RM said, “The reason we weren’t able to win is, I think many of you probably expect this, but we took it as them telling us to come and get the award in person.” That sounds an awful lot like him saying they didn’t win because they couldn’t go.
But he actually sounds cool with it saying, “I saw a lot of articles saying we ‘failed’ to get the award, but I don’t think it’s a fail since we were able to perform for the first time as nominees. I don’t think it’s a failure but let’s look at the positive side: We were nominated for the first time and did our first solo performance.”
I don’t know that the Grammys would have an attendance requirement during a pandemic when 90% of the ceremony was virtual anyway (or ever really), but who knows. At least it sounds like we’ll BTS there in the future.
