Hailey Bieber’s new skincare line is off to a rocky start if you consider that she’s being sued for calling it “Rhode.” Rhode is her middle name, by the way.

You might think that you can use your own name for your business, but when another brand by the same name was first, they might come at ya with a lawsuit like the Rhode fashion brand is.

According to the fashion brand, Hailey (or her team) had reached out to them years before in hopes of buying the brand “Rhode.”

“Hailey could choose any brand for her skin-care line. We have only the brand name “RHODE” that we’ve built. That’s why we didn’t sell her our brand when she asked four years ago, and why we ask her now to change her skin-care line’s brand. Her using our brand is hurting our company, our employees, our customers, and our partners.”

According to Cosmo, the fashion brand’s lawyer made note that just because it’s your name does not give you leeway to create confusion among other brands.

One last thought… this could be good for the fashion brand in the end anyway — think of publicity they’ll get with this. No promises on good publicity though!
